Ahead of Saturday’s crunch matchup against Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Gary O’Neil has disclosed that a number of his players have been afflicted with a virus.
More Details
With just one point from their first five games, the West Midlands team is presently tied for last place in the Premier League rankings.

O’Neil’s place in the dugout is therefore under question, especially considering that their next three games include Liverpool and Manchester City.
The first-choice centre-back Yerson Mosquera sustained a catastrophic knee injury last weekend that will keep him out of action for the remainder of the season, dealing him yet another setback.
More players are expected to miss the game, according to O’Neil, ahead of Saturday night’s visit of Arne Slot’s Liverpool to Molineux.
During a news conference, O’Neil revealed that there was a sickness going around the camp, causing multiple players to be sidelined for the match against the Merseyside giants.
O’Neil stated, as reported by Express & Star writer Liam Keen on X: “[Daniel] Bentley is well now, but several players are sick and will require evaluation. Some players missed practice today due to an illness that’s been going around.

The Englishman added: “Some lads will struggle for tomorrow, but it’s not definite. Bentley had his for a couple days before he felt better.”
Gary O’Neil’s side are down to three senior defenders after Mosquera was unfortunately ruled out, and O’Neil has acknowledged that he could have to take a chance on Toti Gomes’s early recovery from a thigh injury.
O’Neil said: “We’ll test him again in the morning. He’s trained but he’s not fully fit. In an ideal world we’ll probably leave him longer, but we’ll see.”
