The 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup final in Indonesia will be contested by two European teams as Germany and France defeated Argentina and Mali respectively in the semi-final on Tuesday.

Argentina and Germany played out a 3-3 draw in the first semi-final at the Manahan Stadium, Surakarta, Indonesia.

Paris Brunner opened the scoring for the Germans in the ninth minute before two goals from Austin Ruberto gave the South American a 2-1 lead before the end of the first period.

Brunner’s second goal of the match in the 58th minute another goal converted by Max Moerstedt gave Germany a 3-2 lead.

Ruberto’s third goal of the match in the additional minutes of the second half took the game into penalties.

Germany came out victorious at the end of the game of wills with a 4-2 win.

Meanwhile…

Germany will face another European side France in the final after a 2-1 win for the French over Mali in the second semi-final game.

Ibrahim Diarra had given the Africans the lead in the additional minutes of the first half.

A straight red card to Souleymane Sanogo in the 55th minute gave the French leeway to get back into the game.

Yvann Titi equalised in the 56th minute while Isabel Bouneb scored the winner in the 56th minute.

The final will be held on December 2, 2023, between Germany and France.

Argentina and Mali will face off in the third-place match a day earlier.
