France made the perfect start to their comeback bid after losing 1–0 in Düsseldorf, taking the lead inside three minutes.
Melvine Malard, deputising for the injured Marie-Antoinette Katoto, met Selma Bacha’s pinpoint cross with a superb header into the far corner.
Germany, however, responded swiftly. In the 12th minute, Nicole Anyomi spun past Maëlle Lakrar and fired a stunning strike into the top-left corner to restore their aggregate advantage.
The hosts pressed hard, forcing Stina Johannes into a pair of fine saves to deny Malard and Delphine Cascarino, but Germany’s composure and clinical touch once again made the difference.
Early in the second half, Klara Bühl, scorer of the winner in the first leg, unleashed a powerful left-footed drive into the roof of the net to make it 2–1 on the night and 3–1 overall.
