Germany Seal 2025 UEFA Women’s Euro Qualification With Comeback Win In Poland

German women’s national team qualified for the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euros with a 3-1 triumph against host, Poland at the Stadio Miejski w Gydni on Tuesday.

The two-time world champions had to come from behind thanks to a brace from Lea Schuller in the second half which salvaged victory for the record European championship winners.

Dominika Grabowski gave Poland the lead in the 12th minute of play but the host surrendered their lead in the second half thanks to a fantastic display from the resurgent DFB Women’s side.

Schuller equalised for Horst Hrubesch’s side in the 51st minute as captain Alexandre Popp set her up. In the 69th minute, Guila Gwin assisted Schuller who scored her second goal of the game as DFB-Frauenteam took the lead for the first time in the match.

Klara Buhl converted to extend the lead in the 77th minute to seal a 3-1 win as the Hrubesch side maintained their perfect run in the Qualifiers after four games in which they have won.

The win sealed their qualification for the 2025 UEFA Women's Euros as they currently top League A Group 4 with a maximum of 12 points ahead of Iceland on seven points ahead of the last FIFA window before the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Second-placed Iceland also won their match with a 2-1 success over Austria at the Laugardalsvollur, Reykjavik.

They took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to Hlin Eiriksdottir while Eileen Campbell retored parity for the visitors in the 44th minute.

20 minutes before the end of the game, Hildur Antonsdottir scored the winning goal for the host which have seven points from four games.

Austria is in the third place with four points while Poland continue their search for their first win and points.
