Ghana: GFA Encourages Referees With Car Prize; League Gets New Match Ball Sponsor

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the best referee at the end of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season will receive a car as his reward.

This was confirmed by president of GFA Kurt E.S Okraku at the launch of the new league season today.

This according to the GFA will encourage referees to put in their best performance in the upcoming league season which kicks off on Friday, October 29, 2021.

‘’For the Ghana Premier League, the best referee for the year will take home a car at the end of the season. I am very sure that our referees will be happy’’ President Simeon Okraku said at the League launch on Tuesday.

‘’The whole idea is to encourage our referees to be competitive and deliver top notch performances over the course of the season’’ he added.

About 90 Referees and Assistants have been selected by the Referees Committee for the upcoming campaign. These Referees have undergone various training programmes to prepare them for the 2021/22 campaign.

The Ghana Football Association has unveiled Tempo as the new match ball for the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season, signing a three-year deal.

The new ball is predominantly white with an S-shaped red and black figure decorated around it. The ball, also has the GFA logo as well as the FIFA log.

Each club in the Premier League, Division One and Women’s League will have 10 balls for match days and 20 for training session for the season.

Tempo now has taken over Macron who sponsored the previous season won by Accra Hearts of Oak.

The 2021/22 Ghana Premier League will kick off on the weekend of Friday, October 29 to Monday, November 1, 2021 across all the nine Premier League centres.

Newly promoted side Accra Lions will open the 2021/22 Premier League season with a home fixture against Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.
