Giacomo Raspadori’s potential return to Italy has hit a roadblock after an unexpected twist in negotiations involving Atlético Madrid. Over the weekend, a move appeared close, with AS Roma reportedly agreeing a loan deal that included a €20.5 million obligation to buy.
However, the former Atletico forward requested time to consider his options having only arrived in Spain six months ago and with other significant offers on the table. With the World Cup approaching and his place in Italy’s squad far from guaranteed, a transfer was seen as a route to increased playing time.

According to Cadena SER, Raspadori has now rejected Roma’s proposal, unconvinced by the Giallorossi project and opting to remain at Atlético. The Italian international believes he can play an important role under Diego Simeone, who has assured him of his confidence.
Pedro Fullana of Cadena adds that Raspadori sees a clear pathway to more minutes in the coming weeks. He has featured in Atlético’s last three matches and recorded his first LaLiga goal contribution in the 3–0 victory over Girona before the Christmas break.
