AC Milan striker, Oliver Giroud has disclosed that the ambition of the club this season is ‘to fight for the first place in the standing’ while he plans to return after the break as he looks forward to playing with ‘exceptional professional’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
More Details
Giroud looked set to start the season after an impressive preseason and a goal on his official debut but contracted the Covid virus, before a back injury slowed him down as well.
The 35-year-old striker in his interview on the official Serie A channel said he is proud of Milan and his favorite footballer as a teenager was Andriy Shevchenko.

“I am very proud to play for Milan and in Serie A. My favorite footballer when I was a teenager was Shevchenko, I’m lucky to have the opportunity to score like him for this club. We play football for these emotions, I can’t wait to give everything for the team and for the Milan fans.” Giroud said.
The French forward claimed that he had a ‘frank conversation’ with coach Stefano Pioli and former Chelsea teammate, Fikayo Tomori before joining the club.
“When I spoke to the coach for the first time it was easy and natural. We had a very frank conversation and I like his way of thinking about football. I followed Milan last year and they had a great season thanks to Pioli’s work.
“Before coming to Italy this summer, I also spoke to Tomori, who told me they are waiting for me to try to win the Scudetto”. Giroud explained.
Giroud’s move to Milan means he will be teaming up with another old warhorse, and Giroud can only admire the Swedish veteran.
“I have played a few times against Zlatan, if he is still on the field at 40 it means that he is an exceptional professional. He takes care of himself and his body, and I also try to do so to enjoy football as long as I am physically fit. I think Zlatan is a great example for young players and he is one of the best strikers in Serie A. I can’t wait to play alongside him and enjoy him in training. We will have fun and we want to win something with Milan … for those who have Ibra it will be easier.”

AC Milan are willing to start a new contract discussion with their defender Theo Hernandez despite current contract expiring in 2024.
The Rossoneri will want to shield their player away from the interest of other clubs after an impressive performance at the just concluded UEFA Nations League for France.
For now, Theo earns 1.5m per annum but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan is ready to triple his yearly take home pay to 4.5m.
The fullback joined Milan from Real Madrid for a deal worth about 21m in 2019 and is now said to be worth about 50m.
