After an opening weekend loss at the hands of Tottenham Manchester City players reacted exactly the way that pleases Pep Guardiola as they pummeled Norwich 5-0 in a repeat of the Canaries’ last visit to the Etihad.

City put aside the saga involving the transfer of Harry Kane to the Etihad with a five star performance at home to Norwich in response to last weekend’s defeat to Spurs. Gabriel Jesus was in fine form as he provided two assists on the night with as well as his cross leading to Tim Krul’s own goal for the opener.

Grealish got his first goal for City in front of the home fans and Guardiola has advised the England international to learn from countryman Raheem Sterling the art of scoring goals.

“If he gets the mentality to score goals like Raheem, yeah (he can score more),” he said.

“When Raheem was here when I first arrived he didn’t have goals in his mind and we immediately changed his arrival.

“Today he scored because he arrives in the centre, he’s a machine there.

“He changed his mind and decided he was going to score. Jack has this mentality to score goals and win games as well.

“But if he has the Raheem mentality then he can do it, too.”

Another player who gave a decent shift in Saturday’s victory could possibly be departing the Etihad to generate funds for the arrival of Harry Kane. Bernardo Silva was one of City’s most important players when he first arrived but his limited game time since the beginning of last season due to his irregular form means the Portuguese international could find options elsewhere.

According to the Daily Star, AC Milan are now set to hand him an escape route, aiding City’s bid for Kane in the process. It is stated that the Serie A side are ready to bring the 27-year-old to the San Siro on a two-year loan deal for a £15m fee, before making the move permanent for £30m.

Silva’s best season in the sky blue colours came in the 2018-2019 season where he scored 13 goals and contributed 14 assists in all competitions. Atletico Madrid we’re credited with an interest but City’s valuation pushed them back and now Ac Milan could be the next destination with just nine days before the close of the transfer window.
