Gyokeres: Manchester United Receive Transfer Incentive As Sporting CP Soften Stance
Written By Albert Echatah
Manchester United’s hopes of signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres have been boosted because Sporting CP are reportedly open to a more flexible payment plan that includes add-ons.
More Details
While Gyokeres’s initial asking price was around £69 million, Sporting CP might accept a lower upfront fee of £60.5 million, with the remaining amount covered by performance-related bonuses.

This news comes as Sporting CP’s manager, Ruben Amorim, prepares for pre-season training on Monday. His squad has only seen two new additions so far: teenage defender Diego Leon and attacker Matheus Cunha.
After a disappointing 15th-place finish last season, Amorim is under pressure to improve the team’s performance and needs further reinforcements to kickstart his revolution at the club.
Manchester United are reportedly aiming to bolster their attack, but they face competition from Arsenal for the signature of Viktor Gyokeres.
While the Gunners are in a stronger financial position, Gyokeres’s arrival would significantly enhance United’s offensive options, especially considering Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles (only four Premier League goals in 2024-25).

Another potential target, Matheus Cunha, who scored 15 goals for Wolves last season (more than any United player), would likely slot into an attacking midfield role in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation, playing behind a strong striker like Gyokeres.
The addition of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who netted 20 league goals in his last campaign, could also create one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking lineups for United.
Despite these potential additions, manager Ruben Amorim will still look to captain Bruno Fernandes to play a key role, though perhaps with less reliance than in previous seasons.
