It’s also being reported that the player recently met with and had a discussion with Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez in Munich and the Spaniard didn’t confirm or deny if the meeting did take place when he was asked.
Laporta has reportedly it made his top most priority to bring in the Norwegian striker to the Camp Nou as he aims to compete with Real Madrid from next season, something they were unable to do this season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, English Premier League side, Manchester City are slightly ahead of the rest of the competition with Barcelona following closely behind them and they’re not giving up.
The player is said to have given the Blaugrana one condition if he is going to sign with them and that is that, he be given a short contract, between 2 to 3 years long instead of the usual 5 years contract.
This is partly due to the financial position the Catalans have found themselves, so the player wants to be able to assess his position at the club in few years time to see how well the club will do, financially and also be able to strengthen the team in the future.
Meanwhile…
The management at Barca alongside their coach may have finally agreed on their choice defender to replace ageing left-back, Jordi Alba in the team for the present and future.

Long-serving Jordi Alba continues to play at a high level, but at 32, competition at that position will benefit Barca and with much of their focus on bringing Erling Haaland, the club are eyeing a number of signing for the defense too with reports of an agreement reached Chelsea defender Andres Christensen and now they now look to being in Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo for the position of left-back.
With the club set to send out Alejandro Balde on loan next season and Alba not getting younger with his constant injury worries, it is only right that the club want to bring back their former player whose contract with the Portuguese club is set to expire in 2023 and valued at around €20 million.
