Harry Kane vs Alan Shearer: Who Is The Finest English Striker?

The debate that has been the hot topic in English media recently has been – ‘who is the better striker between Alan Shearer and Tottenham forward, Harry Kane?‘
The debate has been on for some time now and every time there has not been a unanimous answer amongst lovers of the beautiful game of football. While Newcastle and Blackburn fans will argue that Alan Shearer is the greatest English striker of his generation (something his colleagues have said over and over again), on the other hand, Tottenham fans will argue that Harry Kane is the greatest English striker between the two, owing to his extraordinary display in the Champions’ League and English Premier League.
There is no doubt that these strikers can score goals, their efficiency and potency in attack is excellent, mind-blowing and terrific.
The two players will go down in history as English greats of the beautiful game of football and it is surprisingly shocking that England football team couldn’t win a major trophy during Alan Shearer’s time, Harry Kane has a chance to write his name on the sands of time by winning the much coveted Euro 2020.
Shearer had an illustrious career despite not winning many league titles he made up for it by winning plethora of individual accolades which includes; 5x Player of the year for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle combined, 6x Top scorer in the UEFA cup and the EPL, 1x UI Cup winner for Newcastle.
Harry Kane has also had a plethora of individual awards to his name which includes – 3x Top scorer in the the EPL, 1x Top scorer in the World Cup. Harry Kane has scored over 200 goals for Tottenham, Millwall, Leyton Orient and Leicester City.
Shearer is the record goal scorer for the English Premier League with 260 goals while Harry Kane has 166 goals in the competition.
The similarities between these players are so much, Shearer recently spoke about Harry Kane’s attacking prowess, Shearer tipped Harry Kane to break his record in the English Premier League. Harry Kane is less than 100 goals behind the goal tally.
If Harry Kane moves to Manchester City and spends at least four seasons averaging 20-25 goals a season, he would definitely break that record and set a new record of his own barring any unforeseen circumstances like injuries.
Harry Kane is a legend at Tottenham, but still hasn’t won any trophy for the North London outfit despite playing in multiple finals. Shearer too didn’t win much collective trophy but you cannot discredit their ability in front of goal.
This two legendary players would go down in history as England’s greatest target men, Shearer has been inducted into the Hall of Fame, we expect Harry Kane to be inducted in the nearest future if he manages to win an EPL title with any traditional big team.
The real question is who is more greater than the other between Harry Kane and Alan Shearer. Some critics has said that Alan Shearer is nothing more than just a goal poacher while others has said Kane is a system player and isn’t tailor made for other top sides outside England.
