“He Deserves To Win The Ballon d’Or More Than Anyone Because He Achieved All His Goals”
Written By Onyeka Daniel
For the past few weeks, there has been a raging debate on who deserves to win this year’s Ballon d’Or award, since the list was announced and what even makes this edition special is the fact that the usual suspects, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t make the list. So far, it’s looking like a tough battle with Manchester City’s Rodri, then Real Madrid duo, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

But there is another name that has been gaining plenty of traction lately, Inter Milan forward and captain, Lautaro Martinez. Well, according to former Napoli and Atalanta striker German Denis, he believes no one would deserve to win the Ballon d’Or this year as the Inter striker, as he reached ‘all his goals’, winning the Serie A title with Inter and the Copa America with Argentina.

Lautaro made a vital contribution to the Nerazzurri’s 20th Scudetto last season by netting 24 goals from 33 Serie A games, becoming the league’s top scorer. Moreover, he also played a pivotal role in Argentina’s Copa America win over the summer by scoring five times in six matches, including the decider in the final against Colombia.
The 27-year-old was one of the two Inter players to be included in the 30-candidate short-list for the 2024 Ballon d’Or alongside Hakan Calhanoglu, and his compatriot Denis believes he would deserve the prize given his scoring consistency and what he achieved.Denis believes Inter’s Lautaro Martinez deserves Ballon d’Or ‘more than anyone’
“This season, Lautaro Martinez deserves to win the Ballon d’Or more than anyone because he scored a lot and achieved all his goals,” Denis told TMW in an interview. El Toro, as he’s also known hasn’t started the new season in a spectacular fashion, as compared to last season where he won the Capocannoniere award.

This season, he had to wait five games to score his first two goals in Inter’s 3-2 win at Udinese before adding a third in their Champions League fixture against Red Star. Perhaps, this is due to the fact that he didn’t have a proper preseason training with the club, while also having to cut his holiday short to join his teammate earlier than expected.
But he’s definitely going to start banging in the goals. In a related development, Luciano Spalletti has insisted that he ‘doesn’t need to clear the air with anyone’ after reports he called Simone Inzaghi over how to talk to ultras leaders. There were raids and a series of arrests made within the Inter and Milan ultras groups last week.
With ongoing investigations over their links with organised crime as well as how much the clubs may or may not be inadvertently allowing this to happen. In response to news Inzaghi had spoken on the phone to arrested ultras leader Marco Ferdico in a request for more Champions League Final tickets, Spalletti had noted he would’ve hung up on him.
Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that the Italy coach had called Inzaghi to ‘clear the air’ and reassure that it was not a personal attack on him or Inter. However, when the coach of the Italian national team was interviewed by TG1 ahead of tomorrow’s Nations League match against Israel and asked about it, he brushed it off. “I do not need to clear the air with anyone.

“I only replied to a question on how I behave in certain situations.” The coach was also asked about the protests that will be staged outside the stadium in Udine before kick-off. “We go to play the game in the hope that we can convince more people, because I believe there are many Israelis who don’t want war and we must keep trying to convince people that this has to end,” he replied.
