Before finalising a £40 million transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023, the amiable and incredibly gifted playmaker made 41 games for his boyhood team, Man City.
Although some were surprised by the amount given his lack of playing time under Pep Guardiola, Palmer has turned out to be a great value for Chelsea, who are huge spenders.
After an incredible debut season at Stamford Bridge, Palmer was crowned the Premier League Young Player of the Year and the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year.
This season, he has scored 14 goals and provided six assists. Palmer is “world-class,” according to Luiz, who has even compared him to Chelsea great Eden Hazard. He also says he is “enjoying” seeing him grow.

“Cole is a world-class player, just like Eden,” the Premier League and Champions League champion told The Sun.
‘He took a tough decision to leave Man City and it was the right one for him. Everybody can now see the amazing player that he is.
‘I’m enjoying seeing him play. He’s intelligent and intelligent players are difficult to defend. He’d have played in my 2012 and 2017 [Chelsea] teams – for world-class players there’s always a place.’
