Written by Patrick Echatah

Los Angeles FC announced on Tuesday that their key defender, Aaron Long, will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

More Details

Long suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon during Saturday’s 2-0 victory against FC Dallas at BMO Stadium and has since had successful surgery.

Long, who joined LAFC in 2023, has been a crucial part of their defense, playing in 104 matches across all competitions.

Before joining LAFC, he was a highly decorated player for the New York Red Bulls, earning MLS Defender of the Year and Best XI honors in 2018.

The 32-year-old’s strong performance led to him being called up to the US men’s national team 35 times since 2018.

This news comes at a crucial time for LAFC, as they are currently contending for a top-four position in the Western Conference and the home-field advantage in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
