Along with their titles from their victories over the New York Red Bulls in 2008 and the Seattle Sounders in 2020, the Crew also won this championship. In the 2015 NBA Finals, Portland Timbers defeated Columbus Crew.

Los Angeles wanted to go down as the fourth MLS team to win the championship in a row. Yeboah added a goal in the 37th minute, after Hernandez’s strike in the 33rd. In the 74th, Denis Bouanga scored for LAFC.

Hernandez’s penalty kick gave Columbus a 1-0 lead. After six playoff games this season, he scored his fifth goal when he placed the ball in the bottom left corner. The penalty was awarded when LAFC defender Diego Palacios was called for a handball with his right arm near the top of the box. It was the first goal LAFC has given up in four games.

On the final of 11 passes in the build-up, Malte Amundsen slipped a pass through to Yeboah on the left flank, doubling the lead for the Crew—the highest-scoring team in Major League Soccer during the regular season. Yeboah then dribbled to the goal area and snuck a shot past Maxime Crepeau, the goalie.

Bouanga increased the lead to 2-1 by scoring off of his own rebound following Patrick Schulte’s save at the left post. Bouanga, who scored 20 goals to lead the MLS, has scored 38 goals in 49 games in all competitions this season.

Inter Miami CF’s head coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, has declared that the Club is once again interested in bringing in former teammate Luis Suárez during the upcoming winter transfer window.

Martino stated that the team is still interested in signing the 36-year-old Uruguayan during a press conference the day before Miami’s final MLS home game, which ended in a 2-2 draw with Charlotte FC.
