More Details

The expansion team earned their biggest lopsided victory to date, with the Mexican winger scoring 2g/2a.

He became the eighth player in MLS history to score at least four goals and four assists in his first eight games with an expansion team during their rookie season, starting the celebration at Snapdragon Stadium with a brace inside the first half hour.

After that, Lozano helped Anders Dreyer and Onni Valakari score goals, making him the fourth player in league history to record two goals and two assists in a single game for an expansion team during their first season.

In 2018, Carlos Vela, a fellow Mexican superstar, became the next to accomplish so with Los Angeles FC. Lozano became the second San Diego FC player to win Player of the Matchday, joining Dreyer (Matchday 1).
