Houston Dynamo Add Veteran Firepower, Acquire Sergio Santos

Houston Dynamo have signed Brazilian forward Sergio Santos, who was recently waived by FC Cincinnati.

The 30-year-old is under contract with the Dynamo through 2025, with an option to extend the deal into 2026.

“Sergio is a proven MLS veteran that brings additional physicality to our attack,” said Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad. “He has been a part of multiple winning teams in MLS and understands how to earn results during this critical stretch of the season.
“We look forward to welcoming Sergio to Houston as we continue our push to qualify for the playoffs for the third straight year.”
For FC Cincinnati, Santos was a key player, helping them win the 2023 Supporters’ Shield. He recorded 10 goals and 10 assists in 102 games across all competitions.

Cincinnati traded for Santos in 2022 from the Philadelphia Union, where he had scored 19 goals and made seven assists in 75 regular-season games, 47 of which he started.
Santos has joined a strong group of strikers at the club, which is led by their top scorer and record signing, Ezequiel Ponce, who has scored eight goals this season.
With six games left, Houston Dynamo are three points away from a playoff spot, currently in 10th place in the Western Conference
