Now, the Nerazzurri have been hit with further injury worries after Marcus Thuram returned to the club after an ankle knock ruled him out for France. Furthermore, two names has now been added to the list, Denzel Dumfries and Lautaro Martinez.

The Dutch wingback could miss Inter’s next three matches in all competitions. Against Atalanta, Simone Inzaghi had to take the 28-year-old off midway through the second half. Though he initially joined the Netherlands camp, Ronald Koeman sent him home to recover.

The injury didn’t seem to be serious at first, however, he will not be at Inzaghi’s disposal when club football resumes at the end of March. Consequently, he’s expected to skip Serie A game against Udinese and the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against AC Milan.

Furthermore, there’s a chance he could miss a league clash against Parma on April 5.The coach will be hoping that Darmian, Dimarco and Zalewski will recover during a two-week break. Carlos Augusto impressed against Atalanta, but Dimarco’s return would be a massive boost for the squad.

For the Inter captain, he has left the Argentina squad after tests showed the muscular injury was far more serious than first thought. The striker had been expected to remain with the group with the hope of recovering in time for Wednesday’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Brazil.

The plan was to skip the first fixture against Uruguay, but it was announced later on that he has been sent home to be reviewed by Inter medics. The statement claims that he has been diagnosed with a muscular lesion in his lower left hamstring.

If confirmed, this would be far more serious than previously thought and put the crucial Champions League quarter-final ties against Bayern Munich at risk. He is the second Inter striker to be sent home from international duty due to injury.

Thuram already left the France camp ahead of their Nations League quarter-finals with a knock to the ankle, but he’s expected to be fit for the game against Udinese. In a related development, Inter and Napoli could be set for a summer transfer battle over Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca.

Both clubs look to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the new season and the 24-year-old has impressed in his second Serie A campaign, attracting interest from top clubs eager to secure his signature after watching him score 10 goals from 23 games so far.

The lanky forward has already been on the radar of several Serie A sides, with Udinese fending off approaches for him during the January transfer window. His performances have not gone unnoticed, as the Friulani managed to retain him despite growing interest.

However, with the summer window approaching, competition for him is expected to intensify, with Sky Sport Italia reporting that Inter and Napoli are among the most interested clubs in securing his services. Lucca could represent a strong candidate for Inter to strengthen their attacking department.

With Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic set to leave the club at the end of the season, the current league leaders are looking to add depth to their frontline, ensuring valuable alternatives to first-choice strikers Lautaro and Thuram, but they will face a major competition for him.
