The deal could not have materialized had it not been for Al Hilal’s signing of Brazilian superstar Neymar who joined in a deal close to €100m.

In an interview as revealed by @Fieldleague1 on X, Luis Castro revealed the Neymar operation allowed the decision makers to inject cash into other beneficiary clubs which birthed the Otavio deal.

“We wanted to sign Otavio, but there was no budget. Porto wanted 40 million euros at once, and we did not have this amount. But in the meantime, Neymar came to Al Hilal and they had to open the budget to the rest of the clubs. What was not possible became possible, but in installments.”

Otavio has since become of of Al Nassr’s most important player and Luis Castro is more than happy with his impact.

“Otavio imposed himself in Al Nassr , and from a technical, tactical and mental standpoint he is very strong.”

Al Nassr take to the field again on Friday when they welcome Al Ettifaq to the Awwal Park.
