With the expected revamping that is coming to Barcelona in the summer, the future of Spanish midfielder, Sergio Busquet is still up in the air, with talks of a possible exit in June.
More Details
The player, like most Barcelona players at the start of the season weren’t playing at their best under Ronald Koeman but since Xavi Hernandez took over as coach, there has been a resurgence in form for the whole team and individual players.

Especially Busquet and the club captain has been in brilliant form of late, rolling back the time with some vintage performances. However, the veteran midfielder will soon be turning 34 and entering the final phase of his career.
In a recent interview, Busquets acknowledged that he will not hesitate to step away when his contract expires in 2023 if he feels that he cannot serve the club anymore. “When my contract is over, I will decide what’s the best for me. If I’m good, I would want to stay.
“If not, I would accept that my time has come,” Busquets said. “I don’t see myself playing for another European team that is not Barça,” he further added.
With the expected signing of Ac Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie, Busquet could find himself playing from the bench from next season as the Ivorian is expected to go straight into the starting lineup and his physicality will be much needed to add steel to the Blaugrana’s midfield.
Meanwhile…
The future of Busquet could lie in the USA, playing in the MLS, that is if he decides to leave Barcelona in the summer, according to reports from Fichajes. With the player expected to feature less regularly from next season, he could decide to move on with his career before he becomes a spent commodity.

The report claims that Busquets would have the option of following his former Barça teammate Andres Iniesta to Japan, while a move to the lucrative leagues in Qatar is another option.
The MLS has been a haven for many ageing footballers with the likes of Thierry Henry, Andrea Pirlo, Didier Drogba, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard among several players who ended their careers in the United States after their sojourn in Europe.
