Tyrique George’s goal and a brace from Noni Madueke gave Chelsea an easy victory after they had been frustrated for the first forty-five minutes.
The matchup with less skilled opponents Nkunku saw Legia Warsaw as an excellent opportunity to attempt and jump-start his faltering Chelsea career. Nkunku, who cost £52 million to sign in 2023 from RB Leipzig, had a difficult season at Stamford Bridge due to his physical issues.
Nkunku, who is back to full fitness this season, has only managed three Premier League goals, falling short of his high price tag.
According to former Blues defender Frank Leboeuf, the France international should depart the team this summer after being linked to a move away from Chelsea during the January transfer window.
Nkunku’s performance against Legia Warsaw in the first half was criticised by Chelsea fans, particularly after he missed a second-half penalty and pulled a feeble shot wide from a counterattack with three teammates in space.

‘Christopher Nkunku has no future at Chelsea,’ Leboeuf told BetVictor ahead of the European fixture. ‘It’s sad to see, because he is a player with so much talent.
‘He was outstanding for the French national team and RB Leipzig. But he hasn’t settled into the club and has been unfortunate with injuries.
‘I was expecting a lot from Nkunku when he joined, but it just hasn’t happened for him. It’s a sad affair for the club, the fans and Christopher himself.
‘I think he must leave the club now; he will never settle at Chelsea and should look to move on. I wish him all the best, and hope he rediscovers his form at another club because we’ve seen the magic he can produce.’
