Valencia have been on a steady decline since Marcelino left in 2019 and they’re in the habit of selling their best players, which will probably be the case once more, as Spanish midfielder, Carlos Soler and left-back, Jose Gaya have been linked with a move away from the club to help balance their books.
The appointment of Gattuso is expected to galvanize the team and maybe qualify for at least, Europa League while the club continue to seek ways towards financial health.
In his opening press conference as Valencia manager, he also left an interesting quote; “I would like to work with players that have failed, with a profile almost of a loser, I like that profile, players that think that Valencia truly believes in them and that arrive with desire.” He said.
“We have spoken about our way of seeing the team, from playing out, of schemes, of tactical aspects, but above all what we want are players that have desire, with fire inside them, that want to win.”
“Players that think that playing for Valencia is like playing at Real Madrid and Barcelona.” He further added.
Meanwhile…
Barcelona are set to give priority to the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, Ruben Neves as they see the player as an important piece that can help complete the team, going into the new season.
The Blaugrana want him to compete with Sergio Busquets next season. And for that, they are doing everything in their power to strike a deal with the Premier League side.

In any way, Neves’ profile has been shortlisted as the management believes he is that one positional player who could fit in to the ideas of their coach, Xavi Hernandez.
Furthermore, with Busquets not getting any younger, the signing of Neves could come handy. The club have already informed super agent, Jorge Mendes to make the transfer happen.
Mendes has reportedly informed the Premier League side, who have also asked the agent to book down Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Joao Palhinha as his replacement should the two club eventually reach a deal.
