The FA Cup quarterfinal between Manchester United and Liverpool takes place next weekend, and Ibrahima Konate has a “good chance” of returning from injury, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

After suffering what appeared to be a hamstring injury against Sparta Prague in the Europa League, the Frenchman was absent from the starting lineup for Sunday’s thrilling 1-1 Premier League draw at Manchester City.

Jarell Quansah replaced Konate in the starting lineup, the Englishman performed admirably with the commanding Virgil van Dijk in front of Caoimhin Kelleher as the Reds relentlessly attacked the champs and managed to salvage just one point.

Konate was sent for scans on his injury prior to the visit of Man City, although the results of those tests have not been disclosed, and there has been no official word on the severity of his injury.

Prior to Man City’s visit, Konate had scans performed on his injuries; however, the findings of those tests have not been made public, and the extent of his ailment has not been officially stated.

But Klopp said, “No, no,” in response to a question from reporters during his Sunday press conference about if Konate’s issue was serious. Ibou could be able to help United. An excellent opportunity.

“We need the players back. All the stories we created with the kids and stuff are wonderful, wonderful, I couldn’t be happier about that, but of course we fight for the biggest prize in football.”

Manchester United have announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s official 27.7% takeover of the team in exchange for a £1.3 billion agreement has now been completed.
