“I’m Glad I Became A Liverpool Player” — Isak Speaks Out After Boos For Sweden

Written By Albert Echatah

Alexander Isak has declined to discuss his controversial departure from Newcastle United, calling it a “closed chapter.”

More Details

The Swedish forward, who transferred to Liverpool for a record-breaking £130 million, had previously made it clear he wanted to leave and trained separately from the team over the summer.

He was recently booed during his first match of the season with Sweden. When asked about his departure from the North East, he declined to comment, choosing instead to focus on his new job.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, he said: “That’s part of football. I can’t control everything that is said or written. But I’m glad I became a Liverpool player. That’s what I wanted and I’m happy about that.

“There is a lot to discuss, and it can be discussed for a long time.

“It has been educational, and I’m happy with the final result. I’m happy and proud to be a Liverpool player.

“I don’t want to go into details or talk about that situation too much. It is a closed chapter, but I’ve never had any problems.”

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak was substituted 18 minutes into his last match for Sweden. Sweden’s manager, Jon Dahl Tomasson, knew Isak wasn’t in top form, but Isak was relieved the transfer drama was over before he joined the national team.

He added: “It’s great that everything was settled before the camp and that I could focus on playing football again.

“It’s been a fairly new situation for me, but you always learn and develop mentally off the pitch as well.”
