Iga Swiatek emerged the champion of the 2022 BNP Paribas Open 1000 Masters title in California after going pass Maria Sakkari on Sunday.

The World number three produced a master class to outwit the world number six 6-4, 6-1 in straight sets of 80 minutes to add to her growing title cabinet of a grand slam and a three 1000 Masters title achieved within 10 months.

She became the first Polish woman to claim the title at Indian Wells, surpassing the result by 2014 BNP Paribas Open runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska.
She also tied former World No.2 Radwanska as the highest-ranked Polish player in history.
With a 11 match winning streak, the 20-year-old has been so consistent since her breakthrough win at the 2020 French Open, reaching at least the fourth round at all five Slam events since then and winning the WTA 1000s in Rome and Indian Wells.
With this win, she reaches a career-high ranking of World No.2 when the ranking is released on Monday.
Meanwhile..
It is only gets better for Sakkari who with her featuring in the final will move to a career-high third in the next WTA ranking.

She will match current ATP pro Stefanos Tsitsipas’s career-high ranking of No.3, tying him for the highest-ranked Greek player in history, female or male.
