The Nerazzurri have reportedly identified the Italy international as a possible replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, in case the latter departs next summer. The reigning Serie A champions are keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old’s development, with Milan also interested in the player and recently said to have opened talks with his agents.
According to Calciomercato, Inter’s primary plan entails targeting Ricci in the event of a lucrative offer for the Turkish star at the end of the season, after already turning down a potential interest from Bayern Munich last summer. However, should Davide Frattesi leave the club during the final days of the January transfer window, Inter could make an offer for Ricci sooner.
Milan are also tracking the young Italian, which could prompt an exciting transfer battle between the two clubs. Aware of the growing interest in their gem, Torino have recently extended Ricci’s contract until 2028 but have agreed to sell him for a fee of €20-25 million should the right offer come in.
Also, Inter have a slight advantage because they can guarantee him an easier path towards a starting spot in their team because Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan aren’t getting any younger and secondly, because of Torino’s interest in Inter wingback Tajon Buchanan.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Granata are trying to convince the Nerazzurri to allow the Canadian to leave on loan with a purchase option. The 25-year-old joined the Nerazzurri last summer. However, he has not really managed to stake a claim for himself in the Inter, making just one start for Inter after suffering a long term injury recently.
That came in the Coppa Italia round of sixteen against Udinese in December. There has already been some interest in Buchanan during the January transfer window. Reportedly, Roma see the Canadian international as a target. But according to the report, there is another team in Serie A trying to sign him. He reports that Torino have approached Inter about signing the 25-year-old.
Di Marzio reports that the Granata have offered to sign Buchanan on an initial loan deal this month. Then, they would offer a purchase option in the deal, active next summer. He further added that Inter and Torino are negotiating on a potential figure for the purchase option and Inter could try to attain the option for Ricci in these talks to try and beat the competition early.
They might even try to sign him now and allow him to stay until the end of the season before joining Inter for the 2025-26 season. In a related development, Inter’s deal to sign young Newell’s Old Boys midfielder Tomas Perez are at risk of collapsing, according to a report from Tuttosport.
They report that the Nerazzurri are struggling to finalize a deal due to new demands from the Argentine club. The 18-year-old midfielder has come onto the Nerazzurri’s radar as a prospect for the future. Inter are always keeping an eye on young talents in South American football, and Perez has convinced Inter.

Reportedly, the Nerazzurri would aim to sign Perez now, but leave him on loan at Newell’s. Then next season, he could play for their newly-formed Under-23 team or even join another Serie A club to gain valuable experience in the league, and this is where Torino comes in again as the young Perez could be a bargaining chip in the talks for Ricci.
Over the last few days, it had appeared as though Inter were right on the verge of completing Perez’s signing. The talks between the Nerazzurri and Newell’s have gone along very far. Therefore, there were even reports that Perez had already scheduled his medicals for Inter with talks also progressing for his teammate, Mateo Silvetti, a young winger.

However, as of yet, the transfer has not happened. And according to the report, this is because Newell’s have continued to make new demands in the negotiations. Therefore, there would be a real chance of the move falling through. But given the stage of negotiations, the two clubs are expected to seal the deal sooner rather than later.
