For the club, they will also look to sell off some other youngsters for smaller fees to make up the numbers. This is the feeling, gotten from the latest interview given by the club’s vice-president Javier Zanetti with TYC Sports. In the interview, he declared that the player, who is currently on national team duties, will join the club’s pre-season preparations for next season once he returns from Copa America.

“After the Copa America, Valentin Carboni will return to Inter,” declared the iconic Nerazzurri captain in his interview. “This international commitment will make him improve a lot. We are talking about a young player with a great future ahead of him”. He has an impressive talent. Every time he touches the ball, you know something good is about to happen.

“Valentin is very young. He has a great future and we hope that, with us, his growth process will be complete.” He further added. The 19-year-old has been developing his game, and carving a niche for himself in the world of football, since making the move from Catania in 2020.

The attacking midfielder swiftly established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the club’s youth sector. In the just concluded season, he was on loan at Monza, his performances were impressive enough to warrant a call-up for the Albiceleste who are currently defending their continental title.

This has definitely increased the number of clubs interested in him, with reports that Inter rejected a €20m offer from Fiorentina for him during the last winter transfer window. However, recent reports have been linking Carboni with an exit, claiming Inter will be looking to sell him to raise transfer funds.

Nevertheless, Zanetti insists his compatriot will be part of the club’s pre-season. The Vice-President expects the teenager to join Simone Inzaghi’s team once Argentina’s Copa America campaign comes to an end. The Buenos Aires native has a contract with the Nerazzurri valid until June 2028.

He scored two goals and provided four assists in the 2023-24 season at Monza. Perhaps, after the assessment from Inzaghi, Inter will decide if he should be sold to bring in Gudmundsson, and in the even that he’s sold, the club will want to retain a control over his future with a buy-back clause included n his contract, just like they did with Fabbian when he joined Bologna.

Zanetti is also insisting that his compatriot Lautaro Martinez is adamant about staying at the club despite interest from other clubs. Inter has been his one and only club since making the move from Racing Club in 2018. The 26-year-old gradually cemented himself as a pillar at the club, and even inherited the captain’s armband from Samir Handanovic at the start of the just concluded season.

A few weeks ago, there were some growing concerns over his future, as talks between him and the club had no conclusion in sight. However, the player himself intervened, instructing his manager to find an agreement as soon as possible. The two parties are now expected to put pen to paper in the coming weeks.

He will sign a contract until 2029, just like Nicolo Barella. For his part, former Inter captain Zanetti reveals his successor’s desire to win more trophies with the Nerazzurri. “When you have great players in your squad it’s normal to attract the attention of other top clubs,” said the 50-year-old in the same interview.

“Lauti has been with us for six years and is very close to us. He shows it on and off the pitch. He is the captain and reference point to others. “Lautaro has said many times that he feels well at the club and wants to continue winning trophies with Inter.” He continued.

Martinez has started on the bench in Argentina’s first two Copa America fixtures. However, he came off the bench to score on both occasions. Therefore, Zanetti believes that the striker’s hard work is paying off.

“The important thing is that he had the opportunities. All attackers have their highs and lows, but when they score, everything becomes much easier for them. “Now the door has reopened and he must be very happy. He is a lad who likes to work hard and that is now paying off, because he is scoring important goals.” He further added.
