With Lionel Messi sidelined by injury for more than half the season, Luis Suarez has emerged as Inter Miami’s best player this season.
More Details
With 20 goals in all competitions, the Uruguayan forward leads the Herons’ goal tally. Following Messi’s hectic MLS debut, Suarez is now beginning to shatter Inter Miami records of his own.

But with Suarez’s Inter Miami contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, negotiations over a potential season-long extension will soon need to start with the 37-year-old.
However, Suarez may have already made hints about his intentions about his future with Inter Miami.
Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman reports that Suarez has a good chance of extending his contract with Inter Miami because he stated this week in a press conference that he wants to continue enjoying his football.
Suarez’s only concern now that he has retired from the Uruguay national team is Inter Miami. He will play his final game for the South American powerhouses this Friday against Paraguay.
According to Kaufman, there’s a strong probability that Suarez will sign a contract extension with Florida-based club.

“As far as his future with Inter Miami goes, he didn’t say exactly.
“His contract ends in December, he only signed a one-year deal, but he did say: ‘I want to enjoy football a little more,’ that to me is a hint that he would sign one more year. Messi has one more year, so maybe Suarez will be able to sign for one more year.”
Suarez’s performance this season speaks for itself; at 37 years old, the Uruguayan international is still among the world’s top forwards despite his fitness problems.
