His contract was due to expire this coming June, nevertheless, the two parties decided to extend the deal by pushing back the deadline by another two years. This renewal comes on the back of successful results recorded during the CEO’s time at the club. The Nerazzurri have won a Scudetto title, two Coppa Italia trophies, two Italian Super Cups and reached a Champions League final under Marotta’s watch, almost replicating the success he had with Juventus.
He was also able to do some wonderful deals in the transfer market, signing important players at little or no transfer fee at all. This includes signing the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram as free agents. The Inter President also approved financial results for the first three months of 2023-24 with an Increase in revenues of approximately €60m (+36%).
According to a report, Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin will also sign new deals with Inter over the next few weeks. Marotta started his career as a scout at Varese. He gradually worked his way up in the hierarchy of Italian football to cement himself as one of the most recognized directors in the sport. The club will also look to renew with their captain, Lautaro Martinez, as confirmed by his agent Alejandro Camano in a recent interview.

Camano said that the Inter striker is waiting for a contract extension offer and explains why his client snubbed an offer from the Saudi Pro League last summer. Lautaro is the current Serie A leading scorer with 12 goals in 12 matches. He was named Inter’s captain at the beginning of 2023-24 and Inter are working to extend his contract.
“I don’t know why Lautaro has decided to work with me, but I know why I wanted to work with him,” his agent Camano told Tuttosport. “It is an honour to represent him, he deserves a 10 rating for the person he is and the family he has. We are talking about one of the top three strikers worldwide. “He is a humble person with whom it’s easy to have a nice relationship. He has all the values a good son should have,” continued Camano.
“He is good, honest and selfless. This is why, I think, Intre gave him the captain’s armband. He is a person who embodies the club’s values, not only on the pitch. He is a hard worker but more than anything, he is a humble person.” Marotta had revealed that talks to extend Lautaro’s contract have already started and the striker’s agent confirmed it.
“We are in talks to receive an offer that can satisfy Lautaro,” he said. “It’s not easy because it’s not going to happen from one day to another, but we are working toward a positive agreement. I don’t think there will be problems. “We are on good terms with Inter and preliminary talks have already begun.” Camano confirmed Lautaro had snubbed an offer from Saudi Arabia last summer.
“Absolutely and it’s not strange for somebody who has a clear life project with a strong sense of belonging,” he said. “Lautaro feels well and he feels appreciated by the club. Don’t forget all his successes with the Nerazzurri. We are talking about the Champions League runners-up.” Inter’s vice-president and legend Javier Zanetti has claimed Lautaro can follow in his path, becoming a Bandiera of the club, one of the most relevant players in the club’s history.
“It’s an honour that he thinks so. He is part of Inter’s history and I’ve known him for a long time, like Hector Cuper, who was a client of mine,” argued Camano. “The truth is that Lautaro embodies Inter’s values and we all hope to reach an agreement with the Nerazzurri.” Lautaro joined Inter from Racing Club in the summer of 2018 for circa €25m. He has scored 116 goals in 254 appearances with the Nerazzurri and his current deal at the Stadio Meazza expires in June 2026.

Juventus midfielder, Manuel Locatelli is unlikely to make his return from injury in time for the clash against Inter Milan this weekend. The 25-year-old suffered a rib fracture in his side’s previous encounter against Cagliari. After receiving a call-up for Italy’s last two Euro 2024 qualifiers, the national team’s medical staff immediately sent him back, deeming him unfit to play.

The former Sassuolo man has been trying to overcome this knock and put himself at the manager’s disposal for the Derby d’Italia showdown. But according to reports, Locatelli’s return is becoming increasingly difficult. Massimiliano Allegri is expected to wait until the last minute before deciding, but his recovery remains highly unlikely.
Therefore, Allegri will have to find new tactical solutions in the absence of his main Regista. He should be able to rely on Weston McKennie and Fabio Miretti despite recent injury scares. The midfield duo should be fit enough to join Adrien Rabiot in the middle of the park. The Frenchman usually operates as a box-to-box midfielder.
But on this occasion, the former PSG man will likely start as a defensive midfielder to cover for Locatelli’s absence. In addition to Locatelli’s expected absence, Juventus will also be without their captain Danilo and USMNT star Timothy Weah. It will be a clash between first and second on the table with two points separating them, hence the Bianconeri can ill afford to lose this match, because a loss will further widen the gap and hand the Nerazzurri all the advantage in the Serie A title race.
