Inter Milan Director Announces His Decision To Step Down From His Role When His Contract Expires
Written By Onyeka Daniel
In what could be a sad news, Inter Milan director, Beppe Marotta has announced his intention to step down at the end of his contract with the club. The Nerazzurri executive was speaking in a conference alongside the CEO of Varese Basketball, where he announced his future plans during one of his remarks.
More Details
During the past few years, Marotta has been the man who has headed up Inter’s sporting strategy. He joined Inter in December of 2018. He arrived not long after ending a nearly decade-long stint at Juventus.
Since then, Marotta has shaped Inter’s transfer business and built the team, working alongside Sporting Director Piero Ausilio and Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin.
Marotta has always had a reputation for having an eye for a bargain or free transfer. And that has certainly been on full display at Inter. Marotta has steered the Nerazzurri to trophies on the pitch even whilst navigating extremely tight financial restrictions off of it.

Inter have signed the likes of Marcus Thuram, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Andre Onana on free transfers under Marotta’s watch – among others. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have completed massive money sales of the likes of Onana, Romelu Lukaku, and Achraf Hakimi. Marotta most recently extended his contract with Inter until the end of June 2027.
This was certainly an important piece of business for the Nerazzurri. The 66-year-old has been the architect of the club’s recent success. But in his remarks today. Marotta has revealed that Inter will not have him at the helm indefinitely into the future. The executive commented that “The youth academy is the greatest asset a club has.”
“Above all, that’s the case from a human perspective,” Marotta continued. The Inter CEO said that “I’m increasingly convinced that making young people pay to participate in sport is wrong.” “It should be free,” he declared. “Because that would also allow the children from poor families, those where the great players are often hidden away, to become involved as was once the case.”
Marotta said that “In two years, when my contract with Inter expires, I’ll just be working with youths.” He further added. There is still no indication on whether he will continue with the Nerazzurri or work elsewhere.

Inter defender Francesco Acerbi was heard by FIGC prosecutors on Friday as part of an investigation into accusations made by Napoli’s Juan Jesus after a headline-making exchange between the two players during a Serie A match before the international break. Acerbi was accused by Juan Jesus of using racist language during the game.
Both players have since given their version of events to FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chine, who is expected to deliver his verdict in the early stages of next week, either on Monday or Tuesday according to recent reports.

Acerbi was removed from the Italy national team squad ahead of the team’s trip to the United States this week as a result of the incident last Sunday.
The experienced centre-back has been training as usual with the rest of the Inter players who were not called up for international duty. On Friday, upon the completion of the Nerazzurri session, Acerbi spent over an hour on a conference call with the FIGC prosecutors.
According to several reports from Italy, Acerbi admitted that he had used the word ‘black’, but not in a derogatory sense. Saturday’s reports suggest that the FIGC have been unable to find audio evidence of the exchange between Acerbi and Juan Jesus. If the FIGC rule that Acerbi has breached article 28 of the code of sporting justice, he could face a suspension of around 10 matches.
