In what should be a source of joy for Simone Inzaghi’s team, the return to form of Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram should be a big boost as they continue their quest to win a Treble this season that includes defending their Serie A crown.
The Nerazzurri face one of the biggest matches of their season this weekend and they’re are three points ahead of Atalanta in the Serie A, with Napoli sandwiched between the two sides in the title race. But more than that, there is the recent form of Atalanta.
The La Dea bounced back from recent Serie A draws and elimination from the Champions League in the most emphatic fashion. Last weekend, they demolished Juventus 4-0 in Turin, a shocking result that has now resumed talks about the uncertain future of Thiago Motta.
This not only sent the Bianconeri packing from the title conversation, it also made clear that La Dea are very much contenders. Inter will naturally want their most important players in good form for Sunday’s match and there are a couple players in particular who look to have enjoyed a welcome resurgence.
First of all, there is Calhanoglu who has had question marks around him for all of 2025 so far. He has suffered injuries, and these have affected his form but the former Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan midfielder has finally looked to be in rhythm in his last couple appearances.
Meanwhile, striker Marcus Thuram has been trying to shake off an injury of his own. Last month, Thuram took a bad knock to his ankle. This not only ruled him out of a couple matches, but also saw the Frenchman lacking some freshness and burst of pace upon his return.
Recently, he showed how devastating he can be with his performance against Feyenoord on Tuesday Therefore, having Calhanoglu and Thuram playing at this level can certainly be a big boost for the team as they enter what could be a critical period.
They will also fave Bayern Munich In quarterfinals of the UCL and then face Milan in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. Meanwhile, Inter are reportedly interested in striking a deal with Real Madrid for Arda Güler as well as Como’s Nico Paz ahead of the summer transfer window.
Consequently, the club feels that they’ve an advantage for the former given his relationship with Turkish teammate, Calhanoglu. For several months it has been reported that the Nerazzurri are interested in picking up Nico Paz in the summer transfer window.
The talented 20-year-old joined Cesc Fabregas’s side in a permanent deal in the summer, but Madrid will still have the final say in his next move. Los Blancos retain a 50% sell-on fee and also have a series of buy-back clauses, which means that they can bring him back to Madrid for a fee of €8m this summer.

Also, with just €9m, they can also sign him in the summer of 2026 and €10m in the summer of 2027. That means that Madrid could decide to bring him back in the summer, either as an additional option for the first team, or in order to sell him on for a greater profit.
However, reports on Thursday claim that Inter are also interested in 20-year-old Güler as well. The former Fenerbahce star, who impressed with his performances at EURO 2024 last summer, has not been able to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s first team line-up at the Bernabeu.
Hence, he could reportedly be on the move in the summer, either on loan or on a permanent transfer and according to reports from several Italian sources, Güler is keen on the idea of a move to Italy, despite reported interest from the Bundesliga, namely Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt.
A separate report from Sports notes that the success of fellow Turkish talent, Kenan Yildiz in Serie A with Juventus is part of the reason why Italy is an attractive destination for Güler as he looks to get regular playing time thag has eluded him with the Merengues.

Inter also feel that they have a slight advantage over some of the other interested parties given the presence of Calhanoglu, the captain of the Turkish national team, who could potentially play a role in convincing Güler to join and his young age makes him an ideal target for Oaktree.
