The Nerazzurri already qualified for the tournament’s Final in 2023, but lost to Pep Guardiola’s PSG. The French club have never won the Champions League, while the Nerazzurri lifted the cup with the title three times, the last one in 2010 under José Mourinho.
PSG have already won the domestic title in France, and is the only European club that can now win the treble this season while Inter are fighting with Napoli for the Scudetto. The defending champions sit second, three points behind Antonio Conte’s side, with three games.
Meanwhile, Inter have already earned almost €200m from this season’s UCL , more than any other Serie A club ever, and will get €10.5m more if they win the trophy. As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A giants have already received €133m in prize money from UEFA.
Furthermore, they also brought in around €60m from ticket sales for European matches this season. The nearly €200m earned from Europe’s elite competition this season is the highest sum ever gained by a Serie A club, probably helped by the early exit of the other clubs from the league.
Also, it’s almost twice as much as the Nerazzurri earned two years ago, when they reached the Final (€101m). Considering Inter’s record €473m income for the 2023-24 campaign, this season’s UCL has produced over 40% more than the total earnings from the previous campaign.
According to the report, this will allow the club to end the season with a profit and this could also translate into a better transfer market in the summer. Furthermore, they can add an extra €10.5m if they win the Champions League: €6.5m for lifting the trophy, plus €4m for participating in the European Supercup next summer.
In a related development, Real Madrid legend, Toni Kroos was impressed by Francesco Acerbi’s performance against Barcelona, saying that he’d pick the Inter defender over a security system. He commented on Inter’s epic win over Barcelona on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast.
The Nerazzurri secured a 7-6 aggregate victory to qualify for the Final, and Kroos was particularly impressed by Acerbi’s performance in the second-leg tie at San Siro. The Italian defender scored a dramatic equaliser in the stoppages, sending the game to extra time.

“If I had to choose between an alarm system, a German Shepherd and an Acerbi in front of the hose, I’d choose Acerbi. Truly pure mentality,” Kroos said. “Dumfries and Bastoni are machines, too. They turned the game around twice. Hats off to Barcelona as well.”
“It was an extraordinary advertisement for football. It felt like anything could happen at any moment,” he further added. “I’m not saying I’m an Inter fan, but maybe the last ten years influenced me to the point where I felt a bit against Barcelona.”
“I was happy for Inter, pleased when the result was 3-3. You really have to praise Flick for the way Barcelona plays. It’s simply spectacular. Both teams knew exactly how to hurt the other. Inter defended incredibly well and scored seven goals.”

Kroos already said a few months ago that he’d see himself playing for Inter if he had not retired at the end of the 2023-24 season. A 2014 World Cup winner with Germany, Kroos won the UCL six times in his career, five times with the Los Blancos and once with Bayern Munich.
