The Nerazzurri will put their Serie A title hopes on the line when top-four hopefuls Lazio arrive at their home ground on Sunday and according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Simone Inzaghi will have a nearly complete squad for this must-win clash.
Numerous high-profile injuries have marred Inter in the second half of the season. Indeed, Inzaghi has rarely had all players at his disposal, especially in key moments. However, there could be some good luck coming their way at an important stage of the season.
The absence of Lautaro Martinez is a substantial setback, but the manager will now be counting on Mehdi Taremi against the Biancocelesti and we will probably see Marcus Thuram feature alongside him from the start. Also, Benjamin Pavard is back from injury.
The Frenchman has overcome his ankle problem and will likely be in contention this weekend. Furthermore, Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are back to training and all three will fight for places in the starting line-up as they have a slim hope of winning the Scudetto if Napoli slips up.
Meanwhile, the club have been very busy in the transfer market as they’re looking to conclude the deal for Marseille winger, Luis Henrique, but they’re also looking signing one striker at least and the new name is a familiar one, Joshua Zirkzee is now emerging as a concrete target.
After being long linked with a move to Juventus the former Bologna forward could be the one that Inter is counting on to reshape their attacking options this summer. The Dutchman Is nearing the end of a disappointing season at Manchester United, having scored just seven goals in 48 appearances across all competitions.
This has further casts serious doubt on his future at Old Trafford especially if the Red Devils are able to sign either Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres. According to Corriere dello Sport, Zirkzee’s struggles in England could work in Inter’s favour if they become open to an exit.
The player has already proven his worth in Serie A, having a blend of technique, physical presence, and flair, making him an ideal addition to the team that could provide cover and competition for Lautaro and Thuram in the attack that is if the duo of Arnautovic and Correa are to leave.
The 23-year-old is, unsurprisingly, one of the names high on Inter’s shortlist for the summer window and the Nerazzurri are also optimistic about the financial feasibility of a deal, backed by their owners who are also ready to strengthen the team. They plan to propose a loan with an option to buy
Having paid around €40 million to sign the forward from Bologna last season, the EPL club may be open to a lower fee, with Inter hoping that his underwhelming Premier League campaign will help drive the price down, but first they will also need to convince the player about the move.

In a related development, former club president, Massimo Moratti has admitted that he initially didn’t see Inzaghi as the right fit for Inter, but acknowledged that the coach has since demonstrated a range of qualities that prove otherwise. Inzaghi took over from Antonio Conte in 2021.
Then, he was tasked with keeping the team competitive despite a transfer strategy focused largely on selling key players to balance the books while also focusing on signing players on a free transfer, but he has really put his stamp on the team and they’re now a force to reckon with.
Although his tenure at San Siro has had its ups and downs, including the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the 2022 Scudetto, which went to city rivals Milan by a single point, he has also led them to a Serie A title in 2024 and two Champions League finals in three years.
Moratti admitted that his admiration for the coach wasn’t immediate, but now he has no hesitation in recognising his achievements. “I’ve changed my mind,” he said. “At first, I didn’t think he was suited for Inter, but he’s actually very good, well-prepared, and handles delicate situations with great common sense — always calm.”
While it may be an exaggeration to draw comparisons between the current team and the treble-winning team of 2010, when Moratti owned the club, the former president still has his own favourite players today. “Today I really like Barella, he’s improved a lot,” he said.

“He’s a player who catches you by surprise — he beats his man, fights, and is dangerous going forward. Lautaro is also very strong, and I like Thuram too — I know his father.” He further added. He also asked the team to lift the UCL trophy as a perfect birthday present for him as he will turn 80 in the next two days.
