More Details

Inter in their last three games have not won a game. From the draw against Napoli, a defeat to Liverpool and a 2-0 shocker from Sassuolo leaving Inter on joint second with the league table. Although with a game in hand which could see the team go top if won.

When asked if he thought that Inter would be in this current situation when he joined in the summer, the manager said, “At the beginning of this journey I was asked by the owners to keep fourth place, to play the round of 16 of the Champions League and win the Super Cup.

“We have been extraordinary, but now we need balance and the fans were wonderful on Sunday. The word balance must represent the concept well, in the summer there was talk of alarmism, now after a defeat there has been a lot of talk. But we analyzed where we could have done better in these matches.”

A win for Inter Milan will temporarily take them to the top depending on the result of their city rivals, AC Milan who host Udinese at the San Siro a few hours earlier, but Inzaghi refuses to see their opponent as less worthy.

“We certainly find a healthy opponent, who has made 4 draws in the last four games, but playing intense football. We will find an organized team fighting for salvation and we know it will be a very, very delicate match.” Inzaghi said.

Argentine forward, Lautaro Martinez has struggled for goals with his last goal coming way back in December. This definitely has been seen as a cause for concern particularly with goals beginning to dry up in the team.

Just a goal in the last three, although the Milan based team has never come short in terms of chance creation.

“A lot has been said in recent days, but Inter still have the best attack in Serie A and I think the concern rises when the team fails to create. Sunday against Sassuolo, despite not being one of our best performances, we shot on goal twenty times and created 7 clear chances. We will be back to score soon.” Inzaghi defends his team.”

The manager refuse to accept the game against Genoa on Friday could be one be one of the decisive games but will rather see it as an important game.

“We are in a very important moment, not yet decisive. We have to finish this month in the best possible way, it will be demanding from a physical and mental point of view ”.
