And for legendary coach, Fabio Capello, he insists that Italian football has a problem with ‘intensity’ as Serie A sides ‘struggle’ when they meet foreign clubs that ‘run and press.’ Capello analysed Juventus and Bologna defeats in the Champions League on Tuesday during Sky Sport Italia’s post-match show.

Juventus lost 1-0 at home against Bundesliga side Stuttgart, while Bologna suffered a 2-0 loss against Aston Villa. For Capello, he identified an Italian football problem following the losses. “It’s about intensity,” Capello said. “Italian football is too slow.
“We start struggling when we find a team that runs a lot and presses. High ball possession is useless, and I’ve seen an analysis of Italian football that made me think about the Euros. We must do something more. “We suffered two defeats,” continued the former coach.
“The Bologna one was predictable, even if they didn’t make the most of a few chances against Aston Villa. Juventus didn’t create anything. They were always passive and could not challenge the strength and agonism of the Germans.” He further added. Capello won the Champions League in 1993-94 while in charge of Milan.
In a related development, Juventus have confirmed that midfielder Douglas Luiz has not suffered a serious injury and that his condition will be monitored daily ahead of the upcoming trip to San Siro to face Inter in Serie A on Sunday. The former Aston Villa midfielder came down with an injury in the warm-up of Juve’s 1-0 loss yesterday.
He had been due to play from the start, but was later replaced by Khephren Thuram in Thiago Motta’s starting line-up. Douglas Luiz arrived for tests at JMedical early on Wednesday morning, and Juventus have already ruled out any potential muscular tear. Instead, it has been revealed that Douglas Luiz is suffering with some minor hamstring discomfort.

Juventus have confirmed that his condition will be monitored on a daily basis, which is a positive update for Thiago Motta ahead of the massively important game against Inter at the weekend. There is further good news for the club as it has been revealed that Teun Koopmeiners and Nico Gonzalez should be fit enough to feature in the Derby d’Italia this weekend.

Inter are currently second in the Serie A table with 17 points from their opening eight matches of the 2024-25 season. The Bianconeri sit just behind them in third with a tally of 16 from their first eight, so it is a potential Scudetto decider match, even if Napoli remain top of the table at the moment, after a perfect start from Antonio Conte at his new club.
