The situation involving Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid doesn’t seem like it would be resolved soon enough and the player is the one who will suffer the most.

More Details

The Los Rojiblancos don’t want to trigger the €40 million in his contract, hence have been using him sparingly, to the dismay of Barcelona, who already see the player as good as gone from the club.

Griezmann, publicly has stated that he’s not fazed by the whole situation, but privately, is pushing for an agreement, so he can start playing more minutes as he runs the risk of missing out on the French party that is going to the World Cup.

Several news outlets have reported that the two clubs have been in negotiations, trying to find a solution and it could see Atletico getting a reduced fee of about €25 million to make the purchase.

But the Los Rojiblancos will also have to sell at least one striker from their squad and it looks like Argentine striker, Angel Correa will be the one that will be sacrificed.

Waiting on the wings is Italian side, AC Milan ready to move for the versatile forward should he become available.

The player hasn’t played much for the Spanish side this season, despite being one of their top performers in the previous season and he would fit Pioli’s formation but he is valued at between €25-30 million.

He can play on either wings in the attack in a 4-3-3 formation and even as a striker and can also operate in a two man attack.

Atleti are ready to ‘sacrifice’ Correa in order to use Griezmann without constraints, and Milan are ‘at the window and can take advantage of the opportunity, but woukd look to beat down the price should they enter into negotiations for his signing.

Meanwhile…

Few days ago, reports emerged that English Premier League side, Manchester United could be looking to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, Jan Oblak in January at a cut price fee as the Los Rojiblancos could make him available instead of losing him for nothing in the summer of 2023 when his contract expires.

But they could face a challenge for his signature from another English club, Tottenham Hotspur, who are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris between the sticks.

The 35-years old French goalkeeper has suffered plenty of injuries and this could be his last season with Tottenham. Replacing him with Oblak, who is just 29-years would be a smart move, considering the fact that the latter has been performing at a high level for many years despite his age.
