According to the words of the club officials of current Serie A champions, Inter, the club will not be making a much signing in this summer transfer window, but rumors continue to circulate about players that they might be interested in ahead of the 2024-25 season.

More Details

So far, two players have been linked with a move away from the club, Denzel Dumfries and Stefan De Vrij. For Dumfries, the recent feeling is that he’s most likely to stay rather than leave, so he’s expected to sign a new contract after the Euro 2024 tournament.

For his Dutch teammate, De Vrij, there have been reports linking him with a move to the Middle East, and several players have been mentioned as his possible replacement. The latest name is former Napoli defender, Kim Min-Jae, and Inter will be hoping that Bayern Munich would him return to Serie A on loan.

The South Korea international won the Scudetto in his only Italian campaign and was then sold to the German giants for €50m.However, he made only 36 competitive appearances that season with one goal and two assists, often dropped to the bench after Eric Dier was signed in January from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri believe that Bayern would be open to allowing him to leave on loan without an option to buy at the end of the season. After all, the clubs do have a good rapport thanks to the deals for Yann Sommer and Benjamin Pavard last summer.

It would only be something that Inter would consider if they were to sell one of their current centre-backs, specifically De Vrij. The 30-year-old scored a key goal for the Netherlands at the ongoing European Championship, contributing to their 2-1 win over Turkey.

The Dutch international scored to take the Netherlands through to the semi-final, where they will face England for a place in the final. De Vrij has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League and particularly Al-Ittihad, but according to a recent interview, he has insisted that he is ‘very happy’ at Inter, so he’s not considering leaving the Nerazzurri this summer.

De Vrij was not a regular starter for Inter in their title-winning campaign but has been playing consistently for his national team. There are reports that Inter will be open to selling him this summer, but the experienced defender seems keen to stay at the Stadio Meazza.

“I have a year left plus an option, I am very happy [at Inter],” he told Sky Sport Italia after Netherlands-Turkey. “It’s been an amazing season and I see myself at Inter.” The Nerazzurri inquired about Alessandro Buongiorno last week but could not make a formal offer before selling another centre-back so the Italy international will join Napoli from Torino.

De Vrij joined Inter on a free transfer from Lazio in 2018 and has made 236 appearances with the Nerazzurri, scoring ten goals. In the upcoming season, he’s expected to have a much more regular playing time, given the fact that Francesco Acerbi is aging, plus the number of matches the Nerazzurri will be playing (Serie A, Coppa Italia, UCL, Supercoppa Italia and the FIFA club world Cup tournament).

According to a separate report from La Stampa, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has been offered to Juventus and Inter as Pep Guardiola is unwilling to keep the Portuguese at the club. According to the report, Cancelo has been offered to his ex-clubs by his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Manchester City’s asking price is around €25m, while Cancelo is reportedly open to lowering his salary to ease his return to Serie A and play in the Champions League next season. The Portugal International played for Inter in 2018-19 and joined Juventus the following summer.

He then moved to Manchester City from the Bianconeri in a swap deal involving Brazilian defender Danilo in the summer of 2019. Cancelo has had highs and lows at the Etihad Stadium and played on loan at Bayern Munich and Barcelona over the last 18 months.

Cancelo, 30, sees his Manchester City contract expire in June 2027. He already played 51 games in Serie A, scoring two goals and providing six assists. He would have been an excellent signing for Inter, that is if Dumfries were to leave, but the former PSV man looks to be staying for the time being, so Inter wouldn’t be needing a wing-back.
