Although Eriksen, 32, has made 21 appearances for the Red Devils this season, he has not played in the league since the middle of January due to his football struggles at the start of the year.

The experienced midfielder played for forty minutes against Liverpool in the FA Cup last weekend, but he has not been used as a substitute in six of his team’s last seven games in the English premier league. Eriksen stated last week that he has spoken with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag about his predicament and that he is “unhappy” with his playing time at Man United.

Hojlund has encouraged the seasoned midfielder to get more playing time in the remaining months of the season, expressing that he sympathises with his teammate’s disappointments both on the international and club levels.

“I myself have sat on the bench for Copenhagen, so I know what that means,” Hojlund told TV2. “But he holds his head high and he is a class player. There is absolutely no doubt about that.

“There is no concern at all from me about it. Of course, you want to play football. And I’m sure he does too. [But] he trains well and is still very positive and very helpful, so it’s not a big deal. He is a real professional.

“It was good he got some minutes against Liverpool. I think he did really well when he came on. He is a good player, so you would like to see him on the field, but we have many good players. So it must be the coach’s decision whether he plays or not.”

Meanwhile…

Manchester United have announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s official 27.7% takeover of the team in exchange for a £1.3 billion agreement has now been completed.

Ratcliffe said: ‘To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility.

‘This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans. Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.’
