Written By Albert Echatah

Marco Asensio was one of the players that Paris Saint-Germain tried to offload during the winter transfer window because they were no longer a part of their ambitions.

More Details

Asensio has had a limited involvement at PSG since November 30. The former Real Madrid forward has only made a couple appearances as a substitute and has dropped further down the pecking order.

Aston Villa agreed to sign Asensio on loan from PSG, according to a story published on Sunday by journalist Ben Jacobs. Marcus Rashford’s possible loan to Villa, which might contain a buyout option, will not be impacted by this action.

PSG are happy with this temporary agreement for Asensio because Villa will pay him in full. Villa will cover Asensio’s whole salary through June, according to Fabrizio Romano, who also stated that PSG has agreed to a straight loan with no buyout option.

Asensio expressed his sincere feelings about joining several other Spaniards who have decided to play in the Premier League in an interview with Aston Villa’s official website.

“Lots of my team-mates have spoken about the Premier League, that it’s the best league in the world for a lot of reasons; because of the players, because of the fans, because of the competition, every game is very difficult, the level is very, very high,” Asensio said.

“And well, it’s something incredible, being able to play in the Premier League. I’m looking forward to measuring myself against the best teams in the world every weekend and that’s something for a player like me.

“It’s an objective in my career and I’m pleased that I can achieve it now.”
