Hansi Flick is set to take charge of his first match as FC Barcelona head coach today at the Spotify Camp Nou. During his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Athletic Club, the German manager showed clear excitement about beginning this new chapter in front of the home supporters.
Flick also provided several injury updates. He confirmed that goalkeeper Joan García will start, having fully recovered from a meniscus issue. The manager described Raphinha’s return to the squad as “good news,” while noting that the club will still need to assess how many minutes the winger can handle.
However, Marcus Rashford remains a doubt for the fixture, with Flick indicating that his availability will likely be determined closer to kick-off. Pedri’s situation was also mentioned, though no final decision has been communicated regarding his involvement.

“Rashford has a fever and missed both yesterday and today. I’m not sure he’ll be able to make it tomorrow,” Flick admitted.

Barcelona have not played at the Spotify Camp Nou since 28 May 2023, with the long-awaited return delayed far longer than expected.
The homecoming now arrives at a crucial moment in the title race. Last weekend, Barça closed the gap on Real Madrid by clawing back two points after Madrid were held to a draw at Vallecas. That result left the Catalans just three points off the top of the table.
A victory over Athletic Club would draw Barcelona level with their rivals and at least provisionally, move them into first place on goal difference.
