Hence he would be punished, even if he’s already on his way out of the club this summer after a failing to impress in his first season at the club. So far, he has failed to justify his €50m price as he didn’t score or assist in 27 appearances and missed 20 games due to injuries.
Furthermore, he was never a regular starter under Igor Tudor or his predecessor Thiago Motta and only played for 45 minutes in the recent Club World Cup. The former Aston Villa midfielder is clearly seeking a way out of the club and has been linked with several Premier League clubs already.
His agent Is expected to meet with several English clubs this week. In the meantime, Juventus aim for a €40m sale to avoid a capital loss as they’ve concluded their second summer signing after they welcomed João Mario, who arrived at the J Medical to undergo medical tests.
The Portuguese defender signed autographs for the Bianconeri fans. He landed in Turin yesterday to complete a player-plus cash swap deal involving Alberto Costa. As reported by Italian transfer expert, Alfredo Pedullà, the 25-year-old has been valued €10m to complete the transfer.
For Porto, they will pay €15m plus €1m add-ons for Alberto Costa. In a related development, according to a report from Tuttosport, Milan and Napoli have enquired about Weston McKennie, who wants to remain in Turin, but has yet to reach an agreement over a contract extension.

The two clubs mentioned have shown interest in the USA midfielder and while the player is ready to stay, the club has other ideas. He is part of Igor Tudor’s plans at the Allianz Stadium, but his contract in Turin expires at the end of 2025-26, so an exit this summer can’t be ruled out.
That is, until they reach an agreement over a contract extension. McKennie was frozen out of the team last summer, before signing a new deal to 2026. This time around, he’ll continue training under Tudor for the pre-season as requested by the coach.

According to the report, a move to the MLS remains an option for the 26-year-old who will be 27 next month as he has never played at a club level in his native country, and a move to the USA should not be ruled out, especially with a view to the 2026 World Cup that they will be hosting.
