The only trophy that had eluded the 32 year old defender was the Club World Cup title that was won against Brazilian side Palmeiras on Saturday.
Following the victory, there’s been widespread accolades pouring in for the Chelsea captain who has now become one of the most decorated players in the history club.
Middlesbrough coach Neil Warnock instead had other ideas as he feels the defender isn’t worth all the hype as he doesn’t see him as a good enough player but one that has had a fair share of luck.
“I think he’s been a very fortunate lad to be at a club like Chelsea,” he told the Breakfast show on Monday.
“I don’t think he’s a great defender. Sometimes in football you need a bit of luck, and I think he’s had a bit of luck that he’s been there at the right time and at the right place.
“That’s what you need in football. You need a bit of luck to be successful.”
Former Chelsea captain John Terry has immediately responded since seeing the comments made by the English manager.
Terry, hearing his comments, asked on Twitter: ‘Is this a wind up?’
Azpilicueta has decided not to respond to Warnock’s claims as he believes in his own ability without minding people’s opinions.
Azpilicueta has made 459 appearances for the Blues and has scored 15 goals in a decade long romance with the West London club.
Meanwhile…
Jason Cundy was totally against Neil Warnock’s claims as he reckons Cesar Azpilicueta is a Chelsea legend just like Frank Lampard and John Terry.
Cundy said Warnock will regret his comments about the 32 year old Spanish defender whom he said is a lucky player and not good enough as a defender.

“I love Neil, but he will regret those comments,” Cundy said on Drivetime.
“He’s won the lot, he’s captained the lot. He said he can’t defend… Azpilicueta has played in pretty much everywhere across the back four or five.
“He can play right-back, he can play left-back and he has done. He can play right wing-back, left wing-back in a three or a five. He can also play right centre-half.
“He was won every single trophy playing in one of those positions throughout his time at Chelsea.
“If you talk about Chelsea legends… Peter Osgood, Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris, Peter ‘The Cat’ Bonetti…
“But we’re talking about the major, major trophies, the biggest trophies in world football.
“You’re talking John Terry, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech, Branislav Ivanovic, Frank Lampard and you’re talking Azpilicueta.”
Azpilicueta has won two Premier League titles, Two Europa League titles, the Champions League, one FA Cup, League cup and most recently the Club World Cup to complete all major honors for the Blues.
