FC Barcelona Coach, Jonatan Giraldez has announced his departure from the European champions to the United States women’s top-flight league.

The Spanish coach announced his switch in a press conference.

“The only one I can decide about my future is that I won’t be in Europe. It’s important to compete against Barça”, said Jonatan Giráldez in the press conference that the Blaugrana coach called to announce his departure.

It was reported last week by several mediums that the Blaugrana technician has attracted interest from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) clubs in the United States of America (USA).

The current coach received a tempting offer from a club in the NWSL, the first North American women's football division.

According to Spanish outlet, Relevo the coach is set to join Washington Spirit.

The NWSL side has offered him a salary that is five times greater than his current salary at Barca.

Giráldez has told Barcelona he doesn't plan to renew his contract, and he has been given an "astronomical offer" from an NWSL side to make the jump stateside, per the report.

Giráldez has led Barcelona to multiple Spanish league titles, as well as one Champions League win.
