The Portuguese’s current deal expires this summer but the club want to continue having him at the helm.

Initial talks had it that a two year deal was close to being agreed but as per latest reports, there seems to be a snag.

According to @Fieldleague, the CEO of the club Steve Calzada is not willing to offer the 69 year old more than a year contract, one the league winning tactician has rebuffed.

Talks are still ongoing to find a solution as both parties are willing to continue the project that has seen the club remain unbeaten in the league up until the penultimate match week.


After leading his side to a 4-1 win over Damac on Thursday, coach Marcelo Gallardo has refused to talk about his future.

Speaking to reporters at his post match press conference, the Argentine gaffer skipped questions on where his future lies.

He was contracted by Al Ittihad until the end of the season following the dismissal of Nuno Espírito Santo. 

However, results have not been anything to go by and the club are looking at the possibility of moving on from the coach.

Gallardo did not give anything away about his future when asked by reporters after the game.

“You see what is happening on social media sites, everything is clear.” He said 

“This is not the place where I talk about my contract. There are other places where I can answer.” Concluded the former River Plate manager.
