Juninho Set For Radical Clearout At Lyon As Emerson Palmieri Edges Closer

Olympique Lyon could be set for a clear-out in the final days of the transfer market following reports that several players could be on their way out of the club.

The report follows the French club’s poor start to the season which has seen the club fail to win any match in the Ligue 1 this season, with the latest result being a 3-0 loss to Angers.

Last Sunday’s result leaves Lyon in 17th position with a single point and the club’s Sporting Director, Juninho Pernambucano, intends to react radically as RMC (via Get French Football News) reports that several players have now been put up for sale for what the outlet calls ” their poor attitude”.

The players that could be shown the door are Thiago Mendes, Houssem Aouar, Rayan Cherki, Islam Slimani and Ivorian, Maxwel Cornet who was shown the red card in the second half during Sunday’s defeat.

Brazilian centre back, Marcelo, was reportedly smiling in the dressing room as the captain, Leo Dubois addressed his players following the loss, an action that has seen the club demote the 34-year-old to the reserves with talks of a contract termination already started.

It is left to be seen how Lyon intend to dispose the players and replace them with less than two weeks left in the transfer market.

Talks between Lyon and Chelsea continue to progress for the transfer of left back, Emerson Palmieri, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italy international full back has been on the fringes of the Chelsea squad for some time now after falling behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso on the pecking order.

Italian side, Napoli would also like to take the former Roma defender, however, they would like him to wait for a few days while the put up a proposal to Chelsea.

Emerson joined Chelsea in 2018 for around €20 million and has appeared in over 70 matches for the Blues.
