With less than 5 matches to go for some the top European Leagues before the season ends, clubs are already making plans for next season and for two Italian giants, Napoli and AC Milan, part of that plan includes the appointment of a new manager after what can be termed as a disappointing season.

More Details

Especially for the club from Naples, who will definitely be undergoing plenty of restructuring for next season. They won the Serie A title last season, but this season, they’ve not only lost the title, they’re also on the verge of not qualifying for any European club competition for next season too.

They’ve already gone through three managers after Luciano Spalletti left before the start of this season, from Rudi Garcia to Walter Mazzari and most recently Francesco Calzona. Now, according to a latest report, Jurgen Klopp has been ‘approached’ to manage the Neapolitean club by their president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The 56-year-old will leave Liverpool this summer having joined the club in 2015, a decision he attributed to having ‘run out of energy’ in the dugout. The German suggested he would not coach another club again for at least a year, just like Antonio Conte (who is also another name on De Laurentiis list) and may even retire from football completely after he departs Anfield.

However, that hasn’t stopped him being linked with plenty of jobs over the past few months, including the Germany national team position. According to Italian journalist Paolo Esposito though, Napoli are the latest club to have enquired about recruiting the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

Esposito has suggested that the Napoli president has already made contact with Klopp over potentially taking over the club next season, although he didn’t elaborate on the outcome of that approach. “Jurgen Klopp has also been approached by Aurelio De Laurentiis to sit on the Napoli bench for next season,” he said.

“I already reported this in the last episode of Area di Rigore. The German coach will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.” Given that Klopp has not only stated his desire to take a break from football but looks absolutely shattered on the touchline, it’s extremely unlikely that he will be taking a new job any time soon – let alone the Napoli post.

Any attempts to persuade Klopp to change his mind over his future this summer will almost certainly fall on deaf ears, and Napoli should start looking elsewhere. Already, there are reports that Conte is ready to lower his salary demands and ready to work within certain budget limit as he looks to make a comeback after his sabbatical.

Meanwhile…

Paulo Dybala has been a central figure for Roma since his arrival two years ago, but the story could come to a painful end this summer. The 30-year-old Argentinian forward has been the main source of creativity in the Giallorossi squad since he joined on a free transfer back in July 2022, and was heavily utilised by Jose Mourinho and current manager, Daniele De Rossi.

Despite struggles with fitness over the last two seasons, Dybala has continued to be one of the stars of the show at Roma. This term, he’s scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Dybala is starting to seriously consider his future with the Giallorossi ahead of the summer.

He is said to be concerned that the club could miss out on a spot in the Champions League. In the summer, his €12m release clause will be valid until the end of July and his agents are open to approaches from Saudi Arabia, where he could be offered a salary of around €8m net per season plus add-ons.

Next season, his contract, which will expire in 2025, would be automatically renewed by one year should he reach 50% appearances. At 30, Dybala is keen for one final adventure before the end of his career and so would seriously considering leaving Roma should they miss out on the Champions League.
