JUST IN: Ilkay Gundogan Signs For Barcelona After Leaving Man City

Ilkay Gundogan has been signed by FC Barcelona, according to Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo.

Prior to the move, it is believed that the 32-year-old midfielder has signed a contract with the Blaugrana.

After Barcelona were unsuccessful in re-signing Lionel Messi, Gundogan rose to the top of their transfer list. The Catalans were up against stiff competition from Man City, who were eager to renew Gundogan’s contract, as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia and Arsenal.

According to the report, Gundogan has finished signing his contract with Barcelona in Munich, where director Mateu Alemany had traveled today to conclude the transaction.

The German international is thought to have signed a two-year contract with an additional year’s option. In order to exercise the option for the extension, he must participate in more than half of the games during his second season with the club.

According to reports, Gundogan’s contract includes a €500 million release clause, and the midfielder underwent his medical in Germany.

Barcelona teenagers Alejandro Balde and Gavi have made it onto the long list for the 2023 Golden Boy award after playing starring roles for Xavi’s side.

Gavi claimed the award last year, following in the footsteps of Pedri, and another winner from the club would make it the third year in a row a Barca player has claimed the prize.

This year’s ranking includes statistical analysis by Football BenchMark which means each player has been given a rating.
