It was looking like the deal for Douglas Luiz would fall apart due to the demands of one of the players involved in the deal, but Juventus have showed resilience to get it back on track by offering a different player instead.

The Bianconeri are back on track to get their transfer target imminently, as Weston McKennie was removed from the deal and Enzo Barrenechea has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa, joining Samuel Iling-Junior.

The transfer agreement had originally been done for Douglas Luiz to move to Turin in exchange for €20-25m cash plus McKennie and Iling-Junior. However, that fell apart when McKennie blocked the whole affair, some report because he wanted compensation to leave Juve, others that his wage demands were too high for the Premier League side.

Regardless of the specific reason, the USMNT midfielder was holding everything up and with no progress, the clubs decided to excise him from the deal. Instead, Barrenechea was added in following his loan experience with Frosinone and the Argentine has quickly managed to agree personal terms with Aston Villa, according to a report from Alfredo Pedullà.

Barrenechea is valued at €25m including some difficult to achieve bonuses. Sky Sport Italia suggested that Aston Villa had requested Matias Soule or Dean Huijsen in part-exchange instead, but they are valued at far more than Barrenechea and not even considered by Juventus. Now that this issue has been resolved, Douglas Luiz could complete his transfer to Juve soon.

In a related development, Juventus continues to work on a move for Teun Koopmeiners as the Dutchman waits for them to sign him. Juve has identified him as the key midfielder to sign this summer, and the Bianconeri want to ensure he does not move to another suitor. After winning the Europa League, several clubs want Koopmeiners, and Atalanta is holding out for around €60 million.

That fee is too much for Juventus to pay, so they are trying to find a breakthrough by including some players in the deal. Atalanta has already rejected the idea of including Dean Huijsen in the offer. However, the Bianconeri are not giving up, and they have identified another player to include in their bid to sign Koopmeiners.

A report on Tuttojuve reveals that Juventus also wants to include Moise Kean in their offer. Kean has been below par for several seasons and did not score a goal for the Bianconeri in the last league campaign. Juve is eager to ensure he leaves and hopes La Dea will consider him good enough for their team.

Atalanta will probably reject this as they already have Gianluca Scamacca and Toure in attack while De Ketelaere can also play that role. They would be looking to add Soule in the deal while hoping that Liverpool can come forward with an offer of their own to create a bidding war.
