Today, Juventus celebrate 100 years under the Agnelli family but John Elkann insists this is ‘Year zero’ for the Bianconeri saying he wants to make the club stronger ‘on and off the pitch.’

Andrea Agnelli was previously in charge until recently when he had to step down to face charges of financial irregularities while in charge of the club with several other top management figures also affected, including Fabio Paratici, who had already left the club.
The Old Lady’s owner spoke from Geneva where he attended the Science Gateway inauguration on Saturday, hours before the Derby della Mole between Juventus and Torino. “The 2023-24 campaign is a celebration of a 100-year bond between my family and Juventus and it’s also a year zero because it’s the year from where Juventus restart from a more solid base,” Elkann said.

Stellantis’ Chairperson and Exor’s CEO will be at the Allianz Stadium later today to watch the Turin derby. “It’s always a special game, very difficult and important for Juventus, especially not having European games this season,” he said.
“It’s an open championship, which makes it even more interesting.” On Friday, Juventus’ board approved the draft balance sheet for 2022-23 with circa €123m losses, but the club also announced a capital injection in the region of €200m. “The work we are making and its solidity allows Juventus to project the future on and off the pitch,” said Elkann.
“What we know is that if one is strong off the pitch, then it becomes stronger on the pitch too.” Elkann also spoke about Pogba who has failed counter-analysis after testing positive for testosterone on August 20, following Juventus’ away game at Udinese. “Humanly, I am sorry, he’s been one of the biggest potential talents over the last few years,” concluded Elkann.
Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli will play his 100th game for the club when they face Torino in the league this weekend. The midfielder has come a long way since he moved to the club from Sassuolo in the summer of 2021. At the time, he was one of the best midfielders in Serie A, and Juventus fought off competition from Arsenal to add him to their squad.
The Bianconeri have enjoyed his talents since that time and Locatelli is eager to win trophies with the club. He has had good and bad games in their black and white shirt. When asked about his best and worst game, the midfielder said:
“The best was the comeback win against Roma in 2022. “It seemed we had lost it. I scored in that game too and it was important for self-confidence. The worst was the Coppa Italia Final loss against Inter. I didn’t give my best and I am still sorry about that.” He further added.
Meanwhile…
Torino manager, Ivan Juric named his squad going into the big match against their city rivals and has to do without the injured Alessandro Buongiorno, Brandon Soppy, Koffi Djidji and Mergim Vojvoda. Sazonov is also expected to be only fit for the bench due to the injury he sustained against Hellas Verona, so Adrien Tameze could be dropped back into defence.
However, the surprising news is that Radonjic is not even in the squad and it is confirmed to be a decision by the coach rather than any fitness issue. Radonjic had scored three goals in seven Serie A games this season for the Granata, effectively sealing their only two victories against Genoa and Salernitana.

Juric had hinted there were problems in his press conference yesterday and it seems the warning was not heeded. “I don’t know if he will play… If he turns up and acts arrogant, or not. He did not do well against Roma, but he sacrificed himself and fought to win back balls. I hope tomorrow he will get back to what he can do and make the difference.”
Torino squad: Gemello, Milinkovic-Savic, Popa; N’Guessan, Rodriguez, Sazonov, Schuurs, Zima; Antolini, Bellanova, Gineitis, Ilic, Lazaro, Linetty, Ricci, Tameze, Vojvoda; Karamoh, Pellegri, Sanabria, Seck, Vlasic, Duvan Zapata.
