It’s no strange report that Barcelona are open to selling one of their most valuable asset in Ronald Araujo who is nearing a permanent move to Serie A outfit Juventus as the club looks to solve their financial crisis and with the player willing to depart, Juventus are set to up their first offer after it was rebuffed by the Catalan club.

Despite just making a return after a lengthy injury lay-off, the Uruguayan defender, reportedly unhappy with his new role at Barcelona, could depart before the winter transfer window closes but this potential move hinges on a successful negotiation between the involved clubs.

Barcelona has initially indicated that they will only consider offers within the €60-70 million range. However, reports from Diario Sport suggest a possible reduction in their asking price to €45-50 million.

This hypothesis has been put to the test by an opening bid from Juventus, as reported by  Mundo Deportivo. Barcelona, however, swiftly rejected the undisclosed offer from the Italian club.

Juventus are actively seeking a new central defender to address the injury absences of Gleison Bremer and Juan Cuadrado, leaving manager Thiago Motta with limited reliable options in defense. After exploring several lower-profile targets, they have shifted their focus to Ronald Araujo. However, Barcelona’s reported asking price remains a significant obstacle, likely exceeding Juventus’s budget.

Adding to Juventus’s concerns, Arsenal has entered the race for the 25-year-old defender. Unlike the Italian club, Mikel Arteta’s side possesses the financial resources to pursue a high-profile signing this winter, aiming to strengthen their title challenge.

Arsenal’s involvement in the race for Araujo is a significant concern for Juventus. While the Gunners are already competitive in the Premier League, further bolstering their defense would pose a significant challenge to Juventus’s ambitions. Securing Champions League qualification is a crucial objective for the Italian club, and defensive reinforcements are critical to achieving this goal.
